At Grower Direct Farms, we start preparing for Christmas long before the holiday season arrives. Our journey begins in July, when our team carefully plants more than half a million poinsettias from small cuttings. Watching them grow and transform over the months, we get a front-row seat to the magic of Christmas slowly coming to life right here in our greenhouses.
From July’s hot summer days onward, each plant is nurtured with dedicated attention and care. Our growers monitor every stage of growth—adjusting the light, ensuring the perfect temperature, and giving each poinsettia the nutrition it needs to flourish. It’s amazing to see these small green cuttings gradually develop rich colors, eventually becoming the beautiful poinsettias that make holiday decorations so iconic. We’re proud to know that each plant we grow brings a little extra joy and festive spirit into homes and businesses across the region.
When December rolls around, our greenhouses are a sight to behold. With over 500,000 poinsettias blooming in vibrant reds, pinks, and whites, the atmosphere at Grower Direct Farms is undeniably festive. Walking through the rows of these holiday favorites, you can’t help but feel like Christmas is just around the corner.
Before each poinsettia leaves the greenhouse, our dedicated workers carefully pick and pack each plant by hand, ensuring they’re handled gently and look their absolute best. It’s a team effort to make sure these holiday blooms are packed securely and ready to thrive once they reach their new homes.
But our job doesn’t end there. To ensure each poinsettia arrives fresh and beautiful, our team of professional truck drivers delivers these holiday plants throughout New England. Each poinsettia rides in a temperature-controlled trailer, carefully maintained at a minimum of 65 degrees to protect these delicate plants from the cold. Poinsettias are sensitive to chilly weather, so our team takes extra precautions to keep them warm and healthy on their journey from our farm to your home.
